Full Time Shift Day Work Schedule Summary VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00865 - Psychiatry - Adult Clinical Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $14.42 to $19.01 Close Date Open Until Filled No Job Summary Performs a variety of administrative functions requiring basic bookkeeping knowledge in support of a billing department or unit. Responsibilities Essential Functions 1. Contacts patients and insurance companies for payments requests, overdue payments, and denied claims. 2. Coordinates with Salt Lake County Division of Behavioral Health and Medicaid payors with billing issues. 3. Contacts insurance companies for explanation of benefits, pre-authorizations and to resolve claim issues. 4. May provide training to others on billing procedures and practices. Problem Solving This position has limited decision-making authority. However, he or she must work independently and prioritize competing tasks to meet multiple deadlines and productivity requirements. In certain positions, incumbent productivity may be measured against established department standards. The ability of other billing and collections staff to post payments and reduce accounts receivable backlog depends on the incumbent's productivity, accuracy, and organizational skills. Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required: Nearly Continuously: Office environment. Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required: Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead. Minimum Qualifications This position requires two years of general office or billing experience, basic knowledge of bookkeeping and debits and credits, spreadsheet, word processing, and 10-key skills, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. Experience in a medical office or with medical billing is preferred. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.
