Sorenson also provides onsite and remote interpreting services between English and various other world languages.CaptionCall, LLC. offers Internet protocol captioned telephone service (IP CTS) using advanced technology and a captioning agent to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen.Job SummaryThe Payroll Operations Manager will be responsible for multi-state payroll processing and payroll tax related tasks. The position will supervise and train a payroll team. This position will be responsible to lead all tasks and audits related to processing payroll for our US multistate and Canada bi-weekly payrolls. This position will also be heavily responsible for all tasks related to multi-state payroll taxes in regard to compliance, development and implementation of best practices and company policies, working with local/state/federal agencies and our payroll provider to ensure timely and accurate filing/payments and troubleshooting issues, building out processes for all quarter/year-end activities, etc. The role will participate in multiple projects, research, audits, testing and daily tasks that relate to payroll and tax compliance, production and ongoing payroll/time and attendance system maintenance.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage team of Payroll Supervisor and Payroll Specialists. Provide training and support to team.Lead payroll team to process all bi-weekly multi-state payrolls for the US and Canada.Responsible for upkeep of payroll audits and imports, reconciling payroll totals, troubleshooting and correcting issues, auditing payroll preview reports for accuracy, assisting team to ensure payroll checklist items are complete and payroll deadlines are met.Takes lead in reviewing current payroll processes to help identify areas where improvements are needed, then takes action to implement best practices, especially as it relates to payroll taxation.Responsible to develop and manage all processes as it relates to compliance with payroll taxes.Take lead in processing the Canadian payroll which includes calculating holiday pay, vacation accruals, personal time, auditing T4s, year-end, certain tax filings, etc.Responsible to train team on payroll and tax related tasks.Monitors payroll tax reporting to ensure accurate and timely filings by tax service provider.Research and resolve payroll tax agency notices in a timely manner.Audit payroll reports for accuracy and process payroll tax adjustments as needed, including working with payroll provider on amendments or special filings as necessary.Work closely with the payroll provider tax team, state/local/federal agency auditors, internal/external legal team, etc. to resolve any payroll tax issues that may arise.Leads quarter/year end tasks and activities to ensure all issues are resolved and employee payroll data is accurate (W2s, T4s, all quarter/year end reporting). Works with entire payroll team to ensure all tasks are complete by set deadlines.Track and input all SUI rate changes into payroll system. Monitor reporting for accuracy.Monitor and reconcile wages/taxes each payroll, quarter end and year end for accuracy. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise.Updates employee Federal/State/Local taxes as properly requested by employees.Works with state/local agencies to set up new payroll tax withholding accounts, unemployment accounts and local tax accounts as business requires. Also responsible to set-up all new tax codes in payroll system in a timely manner and ensure proper filing come quarter/year end.Responsible for record keeping of all tax related documents such as agency notices, quarter/year end filings, amendments, etc.Work with third party vendors on system set-up issues regarding payroll processing, payroll taxes, system configuration, etc.Troubleshoot and answer employee emails/phone calls with questions about their paycheck, payroll taxes, timesheet, system access, system configuration, system security, etc.Participate and/or take lead in projects to implement best practices under Sr. Payroll Managers direction. You will complete research, development, testing, implementation and tracking as it relates to current and future projects for payroll related tasks, payroll taxes, time and attendance, HRIS system configuration/maintenance, compliance, etc.Act as a back-up to Sr. Manager of Payroll Services and other payroll team members as needed.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Specialty Assignments: as given.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position manages employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees.Travel RequirementsTravel Requirements: - Less than 25%EducationMinimum/Preferred Education DescriptionPreferred: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred.ExperienceMinimum Years of Experience and DescriptionExperience with UKG preferred.Experience with US & Canada payroll, taxes, and compliance.2 years Payroll experience required.2 years Multi-State payroll tax experience required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAble to manage sensitive and confidential information in the utmost professional manner.Collaborative team player; ability to lead and supervise; ability to work independently.Ability to work on and meet deadlines for multiple tasks that run simultaneously.Strong decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Experience with payroll processing and compliance in US and Canada.Ability to maintain and audit employee payroll tax set-up in payroll system for accuracy.Ability to create and implement new payroll/tax processes/audits and train team.Experience with payroll tax compliance for US and Canada, state/local/federal agency payroll tax notices, tax filings/payments, tax adjustments, quarter and year end tax tasks, W2s, T4s, etc.Stay current on payroll systems and state/local/federal payroll tax laws for US and Canada.Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis in Excel formulas, pivots, etc.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsAble to sit/ stand for a long period of time in an office environmentDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer componentsThis is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
