BUSINESS OVERVIEW The Alternative Investments & Manager Selection
(AIMS) Group provides investors with investment and advisory
solutions, across leading hedge fund managers, private equity
funds, real estate managers, public equity strategies and fixed
income strategies. The AIMS Group manages globally diversified
programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized
portfolios, and a range of advisory services. Our investors access
opportunities through new fund commitments, fund-of-fund
investments, strategic partnerships, secondary-market investments,
co-investments, and seed-capital investments. With over 200
professionals across eight offices around the world, the AIMS Group
provides manager diligence, portfolio construction, risk
management, and liquidity solutions to investors, drawing on
Goldman Sachs' market insights and risk management expertise. We
extend these global capabilities to the world's leading sovereign
wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions,
endowments, foundations, and family offices, for which we invest or
advise on over $150 billion of alternative investments, public
equity strategies and fixed income strategies. The AIMS Platform
Management team is broadly responsible for portfolio implementation
and trading, liquidity risk management, designing equity and
currency hedging programs, portfolio construction and monitoring,
external manager on-boarding and oversight, private market deal
closing, valuation models for level 3 assets, overseeing the
business control framework as well as several important strategic
initiatives. The team works closely with the investment and client
portfolio solutions areas within AIMS, and with functional teams
across the broader firm including Central Trading, Fund Accounting,
Operations, Technology, Legal and Compliance. RESPONSIBILITIES As a
Vice President in this function the candidate will partner with
senior portfolio managers to develop and execute appropriate deal
allocation plans and liquidity and leverage strategies across our
private market's portfolios. This includes allocation analysis and
recommendation of where and when to deploy investable capital in
accordance with fund and firm investment guidelines, investment
guideline oversight and monitoring, portfolio life cycle and
leverage analyses, liquidity target modeling, performance
optimization, capital and collateral efficiency, investment
guidelines and other portfolio management factors. The role will
also have oversight and management of the related business
applications and infrastructure required to manage these functions
in addition to responsibility for delivering enhanced scale.
- Scope of the role and platform:
- Direct management and supervisory responsibilities of several
professionals and consultants.
- Direct interaction with AIMS portfolio managers and client
management teams, and all the functional teams that support our
business globally (legal, compliance, controllers, operations, tax,
shareholder services, and fund services). Locations include New
York, San Francisco, West Palm, London, Hong Kong, Bangalore, and
Tokyo. Additional locations are expected as the business platform
continues to grow.
- 600+ portfolios investing across all private market's
strategies, including primaries, secondaries, co-investments, GP
stakes, private credit, and real estate.
- Direct interactions with more than 4 external fund
administrators and custodians.
- Specific responsibilities:
- Direct management and supervisory responsibilities of the team,
providing ongoing informal and formal performance reviews and
feedback, running formal training and career development programs,
and providing recommendations on headcount targets and time
allocations, hiring, promotion and compensation decisions.
- Manage and oversee all deal allocations to ensure investment
opportunities are allocated according to firm policy.
- Monitor investment pacing and investable capital for each of
our actively investing comingled funds and separate accounts and
identify new and innovative ways in which to implement deployment
of investable capital strategies.
- Proactively identify new and innovative ways in which to
implement liquidity strategies, including sourcing new credit
providers, outlining terms that are accretive to investment
performance and to efficient capital allocation strategies
- Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of trade communication to
various fund administrators and be the central point of contact for
requests related to the trade blotter.
- Provide oversight for investment onboarding related activities,
ensuring deal exposure is properly captured in all our internal
systems.
- Participate in activities related to portfolio launches,
restructuring and rebalances.
- Publish ongoing (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual)
platform and function activity reports and KPIs to AIMS management.
And provide an annual business plan for the function considering
expected business growth, scalability gains via automation and
functional re-engineering, team attrition and competitor
analysis.
- Responsible for quarterly Risk and Control Self-Assessment
(RCSA) and annual SOC 1 controls for all allocation
activities.
- Perform incident tracking and reporting and conduct regular
review of desk procedures to ensure changes are being tracked and
updated accordingly.
- Lead strategic initiatives with Engineering and other relevant
teams to evolve existing operating business infrastructure and
suite of portfolio tools / applications. Including prioritization,
tracking, and reporting on specific project progress, and
quantifying return on investment.
- Develop analytical models and reports to support critical
business functions.
- Active participation in strategic projects that span multiple
functional areas, with a focus on profitability, efficiency, and
scalability. Focus on implementing Business Intelligence, robotics,
and engaging best-in-class industry vendors for specific
business-critical functions.
- Respond to both ongoing and ad-hoc requests from the various
business areas within the AIMS organization. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience; preferably Private
Equity, trade allocation, liquidity management, alternative
investments, or asset management.
- Good understanding of private equity investment structures and
processes, market strategies, and client offering
- Strong management, communication, presentation, and
interpersonal skills.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and high level of
proficiency in market data applications, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint.
- Strong project planning, organization, and time management
skills- able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced team-oriented
environment.

the team helps design. The team also partners with other teams in
