Position Information Position/Rank Rank & Track DOQ Department 00988 - CON DACC DIVISION City Salt Lake City, UT Track Track Dependent on Qualifications New Position to Begin When filled Details Nursing Education Specialty Track Director Rank and Track Depending on Qualifications The Nursing Education Specialty Track Director provides leadership for faculty, students, and staff in the nursing education specialty track of the Master of Science (MS) program. The Nursing Education Specialty Track Director also provides input for teaching assignments, and oversight for teaching methods and strategies, student clinical placement, and curriculum development and evaluation. Additionally, the Nursing Education Specialty Track Director ensures that specialty track activities are consistent with the vision, mission, values, and strategic goals of the College of Nursing as well as the national organizations guiding the nursing education specialty track and MS program accreditation

Principal Functions and Responsibilities: a) Provide leadership in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and coursework for the nursing education specialty track in collaboration with faculty and various community partners. b) Coordinate the admission process in accordance with University and College policies and guidelines and with Student Services and the other MS specialty tracks c) Facilitate student applications for scholarships and funding opportunities. d) Assume shared responsibility for nursing education student progression and advising, programs of study, student and faculty orientation, course evaluation, annual program evaluation, graduation activities, and other accountabilities as assigned. e) Work collaboratively with the Academic Program Manager for the MS Programs to support student recruitment and retention. f) Collaborate with University of Utah Hospital and other community agencies to strengthen the nursing education specialty track. g) Maintain regular communication with the Assistant Dean of the MS and doctorate of nursing practice ( DNP ) Programs and the Associate Dean of Academic Programs. h) Promote a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment within the College of Nursing. i) Partner with the Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to provide vision, plans, and leadership for and implementation of programs and services to increase the recruitment and graduation of students from underrepresented groups, and to improve the quality of their education experience. j) Work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of the MS and DNP Programs and Associate Dean of Academic Programs to maintain accreditation status and ensure integration of national standards of practice for the specialty track and MS program. k) Provides input regarding faculty performance appraisals and evaluations within the specialty area and recommendations for faculty teaching assignments in collaboration with the Division Chair. l) Facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns in the overall planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing education specialty track in the MS program. m) Completes necessary documentation for student credentialing, licensure, and letters of references as requested.

Criteria/Experience and Qualifications: a) Graduate of an accredited College or School of Nursing and either hold a current Utah nursing license or be qualified to attain a Utah license. b) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing or a related field, or Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) degree is required. c) Eligible for appointment as a Career-Line or Tenure-Line Assistant Professor or higher rank. d) Strong and contemporary working knowledge of nursing profession, nursing education, higher education, and health care delivery. e) Demonstrated leadership and participation in accreditation, curriculum development and evaluation, academic advisement, and admissions processes. f) Demonstrated leadership and ability to work collaboratively and productively with individuals and interdisciplinary groups. g) Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collegial and respectful work and educational environment. h) Exemplary record of scholarly achievement commensurate with rank and attuned to matters of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Appointment: Appointment: The Nursing Education Specialty Track Director position is a three year (36 month) appointment, involving 20% administrative effort. The director position will be reviewed each year and includes the option for reappointment at the end of the three year term. The remaining FTE will be allocated to the faculty appointment, to include teaching, research or scholarship, service, and/or clinical practice. Rank and track will be determined by qualifications.

Responsible to: The Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Assistant Dean of the MS and DNP Programs.

Review & Evaluation: With input from MS program specialty track directors, faculty, and other assistant and associate deans, the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Assistant Dean of the MS and DNP Programs will formally review the Nursing Education Specialty Track Director every three years.
