Camp Counselor (Temporary, Non-Benefited) Position Summary The
Summer Camp Counselor plays a vital role in creating a positive and
engaging experience for campers. As a primary caregiver and role
model, counselors are responsible for leading activities, providing
guidance, and ensuring the safety and well-being of campers
throughout the camp day. Counselors are the foundation of the
camp’s success, ensuring campers have a fun, supportive, and safe
environment to grow and thrive. Primary Responsibilities: Supervise
and ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of campers during
all activities. Foster a welcoming environment where all campers
feel included and valued. Lead small and large group activities,
games, and recreational programs. Adapt activities to meet the
needs of individual campers. Manage camper behavior, addressing
issues in a positive and constructive manner. Report serious
behavioral issues or concerns to the Summer Camp Lead. Encourage
positive interactions among campers and resolve conflicts when
necessary. Follow safety protocols during all camp activities,
ensuring campers are supervised and accounted for. Be prepared to
respond to emergencies and incidents, following the Emergency
Action Plan. Ensure campers understand and follow safety guidelines
at all times. Maintain clear and positive communication with
campers and fellow counselors. Report concerns, incidents, or
notable camper progress to the Summer Camp Lead. Be approachable
and available to address any camper questions or needs. Assist in
keeping camp areas clean, organized, and free of litter. Ensure
activity areas are set up and cleaned after use. Work
collaboratively with other counselors to ensure smooth operation of
camp activities. Participate enthusiastically in all camp
activities and contribute positively to the team. Perform other
duties as assigned by the Summer Camp Lead or Camp Director. Foster
a fun and supportive environment for all campers. Required
Qualifications: Completion of CPR/AED/First Aid certification upon
hire. Background check completed upon hire. Completion of online
United Educators Minors Training upon hire. Ability to lead, plan,
and organize program activities. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability
to handle multiple tasks Preferred Qualifications: Previous
experience working as a camp counselor or in a youth program
setting. Experience leading groups in outdoor activities, sports,
or arts programs. Creativity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
