Job Description:
Natural Science Faculty Associate positions are one semester,
non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure
implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The
number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and
sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and

will demonstrate throughout their materials how their teaching will
contribute to the fulfillment of this charter. Essential Functions
of the Position: Teach upper and/or lower-division courses to
undergraduate and graduate students, in face-to-face, hybrid, or
online formats. Natural science course areas include biology,
chemistry, biochemistry, physics, environmental science,
microbiology, and other related fields. Prepare syllabus, lectures
and class materials, exams, and grade assignments and exams.
Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours
as appropriate to course modality. Monitor student success and
regularly respond to student academic issues. Attend group meetings
with the subject coordinator. Required Qualifications: Master’s
degree or higher in a relevant area: biology, chemistry,
biochemistry, physics, medicine, microbiology, pharmacology,
toxicology, environmental science, or related field at the time of
hire. Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to working
successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic
and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college
students Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations,
syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, teaching philosophy,
etc. Effective communication and organizational skills Experience
in online instruction
