Job Description:

Responsibilities of the Firmware Engineer:
Design, develop, implement, maintain and improve upon firmware and embedded systems.
Play a crucial role through the full lifecycle (design, development, testing, modification, debugging, support, etc.) on new and existing firmware for proprietary data capture devices.
Work to ensure specifications, production and maintenance of firmware meets internal and external quality system requirements.
Identify and recommend improvements to software, firmware and hardware as well as opportunities to reduce costs.
Work with marketing team to define new product requirements / specifications and develop estimates / schedules.
Collaborate closely with manufacturing department to ensure cooperation and cohesion during process development.
Perform regular design and safety reviews; document and report findings as needed.
Prepare and analyze engineering change orders; assist with schedule adjustments.
Stay apprised of technical advancements and industry trends; develop technical expertise accordingly.

Qualifications of the Firmware Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related technical field.
3+ years' relevant, professional electrical hardware, firmware and software engineering experience in a production / manufacturing environment.
Experience managing full project lifecycles (design, development, integration, testing, commercialization, etc.).
Demonstrable expertise in embedded systems and firmware development.
Deep familiarity with Linux systems and tools.
Strong C/C++ programming language skills.
Working knowledge of microcontrollers and control systems (USB, BlueTooth, RS232, Wifi, imager base, camera interface, all valuable).
Adaptability to work autonomously, with little supervision as well as in a collaborative environment.
Experience with circuit simulation and other engineering software analysis tools and techniques.
Capacity to read and interpret a variety of documents such as technical procedural manuals, business periodicals, operating and maintenance instructions, customer specifications, professional journals, engineering drawings and governmental rules and regulations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication capabilities.
