are built.Your OpportunityOur Mining team in the Southwestern
United States has an immediate need for a Mechanical/Piping
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to serve various clients in completing
feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects for
underground and surface mining operations, with an emphasis on
copper processing.Your Key Responsibilities

- Under the oversight of the lead engineer, the EIT will
undertake design execution of underground mine pumping & piping
systems ranging from feasibility studies to detailed engineering
through to construction support and commissioning.
- Coordination of project delivery by communicating with
engineers, designers, project managers, procurement teams and
construction management teams to ensure the design will be
delivered according to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Contributing to or completing system designs and modifications
including completion of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general
arrangement drawings, detailed mechanical drawings, technical
specifications, and calculations including, equipment sizing and
certification of the systems.
- Ensure all applicable safety codes, regulations and guidelines
are met by appropriate design and use of technology.
- Review and analysis of drawings for possible safety and
constructability problems prior to issuance to clients. Perform
various office tasks as required to deliver a quality product on
schedule.

product on schedule.QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials
- You must be a self-starter, take ownership of your work, and be
able to work effectively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of applicable design codes and familiarity with Mine
Health and Safety Regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along
with excellent interpersonal abilities and a willingness to work in
a team atmosphere.
- Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices
(-10% travel).Education and Experience
- An Engineer-in-training designation.
- 0 - 5 years of engineering, design, and construction experience
in heavy industry, particularly surface or underground mining.
- Previous experience with the following items is preferred:
- Design, specification, equipment selection, and
commissioning.
- Mine dewatering.
- Pumps.
- Piping.
- Compressors.
- Pressure piping/pumping applications, including slurries.
- Copper solution mining and/or SX/EW processing.
- Brownfield condition assessments, commissioning, and/or
