Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff
Structural Engineer to join our Design and Analysis team of
qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in
Clearfield, UT.
Our Design and Analysis team works with experienced engineers,
supporting sophisticated analysis of composite aerospace structures
and processes. We engineer the latest composite structures for
military/commercial aircraft and launch structures and are leaders
in next-generation structure development. Would you like to work on

Responsibilities:
Primary focus of position is analysis of composite laminates and
metallics, sandwich structures, bonded and bolted assemblies, trade
study designs and structure sizing, Independent Research &
Development project support, and development design and
analysis
Support will include working on a variety of development and
product designs for aircraft, launch vehicles, and satellite
structures including both composites and metallics
Working closely mentoring, providing technical guidance, and
reviewing work of junior structural engineers
Secondary focus may be as a liaison between our analysis team and
material testing team providing subject matter expertise reviewing
and guiding test planning and execution for composite
mechanical/thermal property testing
Other aspects of this position may include working with design
engineers and learning basic design skills
Providing support for Research & Development, Testing, and
Manufacturing groups during the product development process
Acting as an advisor to management and customers on advanced
technical research studies and applications
Applying advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to
contribute to the development of new principles, concepts and
theories

composites technology development organization and work closely
with research & development engineers, engineering technicians,
structure design and analysis engineers, test engineers, and
process engineers to provide state-of-the-art solutions to the most
engaging problems.
We work a 9/80 work week, which gives us every other Friday off to
pursue passions outside the office. Travel is up to 10%, all within
the continental US and typically involves a 2-3 day trip once per

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or
Math) discipline and at least 14 years of related experience; 12
years with Master's; 9 Years with PhD
Demonstrated experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for
aerospace structures using Abaqus and/or Nastran based solvers.
Static structural and structural/thermal analysis
Experience analyzing composite materials for structures and
assemblies
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance & Special
Program Access
Preferred Qualifications:
Current DOD Secret Security Clearance
Experience supporting engineering testing and characterization of
composite material mechanical and/or thermal properties: Test
planning, test support, and data reduction
Familiarity with ASTM composite test methods and standards
Experience with any of the following software packages: Abaqus CAE,
FEMAP, HyperMesh, HyperSizer, Siemens NX, MATLAB
Basic skills using CAD software packages, NX preferred
Knowledge of structural dynamics analysis, fatigue, and damage
tolerance
Experience simulating composite cure deformations

Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage,
