Process Engineer I Job Description
Performs process engineering assignments of a basic degree of
complexity under direction and supervision with a limited latitude
for independent action and decision. Works with development and
manufacturing groups to establish world-class processes throughout
the organization. Accountable for manufacturing/production work
flows and processes and ensuring they are technically proficient,
quality-driven, effective and efficient. Understands and implements
balance between attaining optimum precision while maintaining
lowest cost efficiency. Works with higher level engineers as the
resource on all technical issues within the production area.
Responsibilities:
- Works with production leadership to establish and ensure
production goals and standards are met for the work
group/facility.
- Provides status of production metrics to leadership, on a
regular basis, to keep them informed of progress toward established
objectives.
- Develops, evaluates and implements improved production process
and related activities to improve efficiency, productivity
(increase throughput), and to enhance qualify of product.
- Responsible for sustaining engineering and stability of current
product lines to ensure consistent production capabilities and to
address minor product changes related to product function and
quality.
- Designs and develops tooling/fixtures to provide best possible
work flow/handling of parts/product.
- Develops test methods and performs required testing to
troubleshoot and validate processes.
- Creates and maintains work instructions (written and
graphic).
- Continuously fosters an environment which ensures signature
customer service and employee satisfaction resulting in a
world-class manufacturing facility.
- Typically works with higher level engineers to provide
leadership to manufacturing/production personnel to find solutions
to technical questions/customer issues.
- Stays informed of technical advances through education,
training, and technical periodicals.
- Models the Ottobock vision, guiding principles and leadership
attributes consistently in word, attitude and actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Engineering or similar
field.
- Work experience in a manufacturing environment (design
orientation a plus) with up to 5 years experience.
- Ability to design/develop tooling, molds, advanced fixtures,
job aides, etc. for various parts.
- Ability to create and maintain work instructions (written and
graphic).
- Ability to test methods and perform required tests to
troubleshoot and validate processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs; experience
using CAD software, training/experience in SAP software a
plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Demonstrated adaptability to handle changing priorities in a
high volume, fast-paced work environment.
