Space Systems is seeking a Mgr Systems Engineer 3. This position
will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based
Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD
program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's
sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and
system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM)
Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and
associated infrastructure. The GBSD Safety Lead is responsible for
all safety disciplines across the GBSD Enterprise including System
Safety, Explosives and Range Safety, Environmental Safety and
Occupational Health (ESOH), and Software Safety. The System Safety
team reviews product systems, associated support equipment and
facilities, functional specifications and operations, and
establishes safety requirements for assigned systems. Independently
analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment
and procedures to control or eliminate hazards. Develops safety
documents as required to support customer and test/operational
range requirements. Performs audits of operational areas and
reports effectiveness of system safety program. Participates in
accident investigations involving damage to products or related
facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective
actions. Evaluates the interrelationship of system safety
requirements and other aspects of concept design and development
requirements to ensure the most cost effective program. The ESOH
team interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental,
health and safety regulations and/or company policies. Assists in
planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new
environmental requirements. Finds, evaluates, and prepares
contracts for properly licensed hazardous and radioactive waste
disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Organizes and equips
spill-control teams. Writes and updates environmental and
spill-control manuals and procedures. Prepares environmental impact
statements and applies for all new permits and renewals. Provides
input to federal and state regulators through trade associations
and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.
This includes functional management and CAM responsibilities. The
qualified candidate has experience in the tailoring and application
of standards and specifications such as: --- Extensive knowledge of
MIL-STD-882E, DoD Standard Practice Safety --- Safety standards for
ballistic missile operational test and evaluation --- Range stafety
and flight worthiness certification --- Explosives and ordnance
safety and disposal --- Occupational safety and environmental
safety and occupational health (ESOH) --- Management of hazardous
materials and hazardous risks --- Force mishap prevention ---

The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday
through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Basic
Qualifications:Bachelors of Science Degree OR higher in science,
engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, or closely
related technical discipline14 years' experience with a BS Degree,
or 12 years' experience with a Master's, or 9 years' experience
with a PhD in Safety or a related technical disciplineExperience
with safety and certifications of missile or aerospace
systemsExperience leading technical teams in a collaborative,
interdisciplinary environmentActive Secret clearance with
investigation in the last 6 yearsPreferred Qualifications:10+ years
of experience in System Safety, Software Safety, Environmental
Safety, Occupational Safety, Range Safety, Explosives
SafetyExperience managing cost, schedule and performance of
technical statement of workExperience with personnel devleopment
and performance management, including mentoring and development of
technical and leadership skillsExtensive experience with
MIL-STD-882EFamiliarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710, RCC 319-14, and/or
RCC 324-11Familiarity with NEPA and facilities developmentAssociate
Safety Professional (ASP) CertificateCertified Safety Professional
(CSP) CertificateWeapon System Experience (Minuteman III or similar
military or industry experience)Strong written and verbal
communication skills of the English language is desiredActive Top
Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 yearsNorthrop
