The Category Manger is responsible for P&L accountability for the assigned category(Cigarettes, Lottery, General Merchandise). Responsibilities include, decision making for core categories, contracts, programs and product selection. Develop and execute annual category business plans, SWOT analysis, sales and margin analysis. Develop product assortment, merchandising, pricing, promotions, and planograms. Maximize vendor rebate programs and ensure funding meets or exceeds contract agreements

What You'll do as a Category Manager

• Oversee P&L for Cigarettes, Lottery, General Merchandise and other categories and initiatives as assigned
• Responsible for decision making for core categories, contracts, programs, and product selection
• Establish and maintain productive and insightful communication with all levels of Maverik management, supplier network and store personnel
• Negotiate contracts to support financial goals and to generate new ideas and programs for the category
• Develop and execute annual category business plans, SWOT analysis, sales and margin analysis, and sales and margin growth initiatives
• Develop product assortment, merchandising, pricing, promotions, planograms, and placements to improve sales and margin for the category
• Maximize vendor rebate programs and ensure funding meets or exceeds contract agreements
• Provide customer-focused support to stores and field personnel for all merchandising and backbar category issues
• Stay current on regulation, industry trends and changes through vendor relationships, category focused seminars, and trade shows
• Additional responsibilities as assignedYou'll Be a Great Fit if you Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred(Marketing or Business)
  • 1-2 years product marketing or related experience preferred
  • Experience in category management and store level merchandising processes and systems
  • Operational experience in retail preferred
  • Demonstrated strong written& verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
  • The ability to build constructive working relationships through acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect
  • The willingness to take responsibility for and demonstrate commitment to appropriate decisions in a timely manner
