Northrop Grumman Aerospace Structures Business Unit (ASBU) has an opening for a Manager Mechanical Design Engineering 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Clearfield, UT.

Position Description:

The Engineering Manager will lead a group of Design, Dimensional Management and Metrology Engineers responsible for the mechanical design and metrology inspection of vehicle primary and secondary structures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to team members, ensuring members have sufficient statement of work, mentoring and training employees, managing employee performance (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers), coordinating with upper level management to ensure appropriate staffing actions are developed and executed, and ensuring their employees are familiar with and use required engineering processes and tools. The candidate will be the first point of contact for technical and will make decisions regarding required escalation and resources required for resolution. Responsibilities include participation in recruiting and hiring, day-to-day support for the operation of the functional organization and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues.

In addition to people, management responsibilities described above, selected candidate will support the formulation of Statements of Work (SOW), Task Descriptions (TD's), Basis of Estimates (BOE's) and requirements definition. The ideal candidate will provide senior mechanical engineering oversight of all conceptual design, preliminary / layout, and detail design, drawing release, design review presentations, support to fabrication, dimensional inspection plans, dimensional management, and metrology inspections. Responsibilities include leading a large multi-disciplined team of engineers, including interfacing with customers, technical support and meeting schedule and cost commitments.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience or Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance and special program access clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determine by business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

Aerospace design experience
An active (in-scope) DoD Secret security clearance (with a investigation or re-investigation date in the past 5 years)
Dimensional Management experience
Metrology inspection experience
Experience managing or leading teams of engineers
Aerospace design experience including metallic and composite structures design
Strong communication, leadership and team building skills

Salary Range: $96,700 USD - $145,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
