Closing Date: 04/01/2023 JOB SUMMARY:The Summer Day Camp Director represents and maintains the standards of the Recreation Department by coordinating all aspects of the Summer Day Camp program. Park City is looking for a qualified, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills who enjoys working with children. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervision of staff, camper registration and supervision, and scheduling day-to-day activities and field trips. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, for the summer season from approximately late April to the end of September. Summer camp dates are June 5 - August 18.EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:Plans and organizes daily operations of the camp, including determining where, when, and how activities will be held using cost-effective planning.Hires, trains, and directs staff of Camp Counselors. Responsible for cost-effective scheduling of staff.Inventories, purchases, and allocates supplies.Coordinates participant registration, including all appropriate paperwork, proper payments, permission slips, and medical release forms.Coordinates and completes requirements for maintaining Utah State Childcare License, including background checks, training logs, participant logs, emergency, and medical forms, etc.Prepares for daily events by setting up on-site activities, reviewing staff schedule and registering children.Creates bi-weekly calendar of events.Accountable for safety and well-being of campers. Establishes relationships with parents and makes every effort to meet any reasonable parental requests.Organizes and coordinates all aspects of field trips, including transportation, site reservations, and payment. Acts as counselor on field trips.Establishes rapport with appropriate City departments and staff to effectively operate the Summer Day Camp program. Examples include the Finance, Building Maintenance, and IT departments. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Required:Must be at least 21 years of age.Must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours of coursework in childhood development, elementary education, or a related field.Must be able to maintain childcare director license (with assistance from employer on-site).Van Driver Certification (or ability to obtain; provided on-site by employer).CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or ability to obtain; provided on-site by employer).
