Job Description Closing Date: 03/27/2023 JOB SUMMARY: The Aquatics Director will work under the direct supervision of the Recreation Division Manager. This position is full-time from May 1 through August 31 each year. It also includes part-time work from early March - April 30 and from September 1-November 31. The Aquatics Director is responsible for all programming efforts and oversight of the pool and its operations. Additionally, the Aquatics Director will organize and implement (together with the Assistant Director, Deck Guards, and Swim Coach) all aquatics programs, including but not limited to, tot and youth lessons, adult lessons, water aerobics, and swim team. EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:Assists with hiring Aquatics personnel including lifeguards, lifeguard supervisors, swim instructors, swim team head coach and assistants.Provides training and orientation to new employees and assists head instructor and coaches with their trainings.Provides (along with the deck guards) in-service trainings for lifeguards.Provides on-deck support and assistance to parents and participants, as well as head instructor and instructors, during the first few days of each new session.Works closely with the Recreation Division Manager to finalize information for the Play Magazine.Assists in ordering equipment for all Aquatics programs including the lesson program, swim team, and water aerobics, as well as uniforms for swim/aerobics instructors and guards.Holds bi-weekly staff meetings with the head instructor, head coach, and deck guards.Provides written reviews for the head instructor, head coach, and deck guards.Updates pool schedule and posts the schedule and all marketing materials at the front desk.Updates a checklist/"report card" for swim lesson participants based on criteria provided by the instructor.Updates guard and swim instructor handbooks when necessary.Administers customer service and participant surveys for all Aquatics programs.Assists in onboarding of new hires and personnel administration related to pay changes, bonuses, position changes, terminations, etc.Maintains inventory of uniforms, pool toys and equipment.Provides Red Cross paperwork to WSI instructors for submission to Red Cross. Maintains copies of all Red Cross paperwork. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Preferred:3 years of Aquatic Management experience.
