The grid is evolving at an unprecedented rate as environmental regulations, economics, technology, and customer demands continue to push the power industry to new limits. Help us continue our important work by joining our team as the Director of Reliability Modeling and Data. Using your expertise in power systems, you will guide the team as it collects and compiles data reflecting historic, existing, and forecast system information to identify reliability trends and develop sophisticated computer models.In this role, you will oversee all WECC system model development efforts, data analysis, and visualization activities, while managing the department functions, resources, and direction. You should have a strong working knowledge of electric industry tools and models used in transmission planning, proven leadership in advancing projects with stakeholder engagement, and strong business acumen. You will work from our Salt Lake City office, oversee a staff of 15 with support of one manager, and report directly to the Vice President of Reliability Planning and Performance Analysis.You will-

• Develop and fulfill effective and innovative strategic objectives and work plans for the department.
• Work with managers and individual contributors to meet responsibilities, solve problems, and make sound, strategic decisions.
• Work with ERO-Enterprise colleagues to plan model development, identify lessons learned, and apply best practices.
• Work with the chair of WECC's Reliability Assessment Committee to align committee and staff work plans.
• Identify, implement, and manage tools and data for the performance of reliability assessments.
• Support data services by developing and promoting the use of analytics and business intelligence tools and dashboards for identifying relevant risks and insights.
• Work with software vendors to continuously improve modeling tools and data used in reliability assessments.
• Work with the members of the department to develop effective means of displaying information (e.g., through geospatial visualization).
• Ensure that interconnection-wide models are high quality and developed in a timely manner.
• Comply with NERC Delegation Agreement requirements and regulations.
• Create and manage budgets, develop business plans, and monitor department expenses.
• Create and deliver written and spoken reports.You will enjoy this role if-
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field, or have equivalent professional work experience. An advanced degree in engineering or business administration is a plus.
  • You have at least-
    • Seven years of direct management experience in several program areas.
    • Seven years of experience in the development of models and tools used in transmission or resource planning in the electricity industry or another regulatory industry.
    • You understand NERC Reliability Standards related to transmission and resource planning.
    • You have experience using power system simulation tools like GE PSLF, Siemens PSS/E, or ABB GridView.
    • You are a competent collaborator and skilled cross-functional communicator with internal staff and stakeholders.
    • You have proven decision-making and problem-solving skills.
