As the Structural Department Manager of theSRS West team, this individual will be responsible for providing building structural engineering expertise and to lead the SRS West structural technical staff. In this role, the successful candidate will manage workload among staff, provide project leadership on complex projects, provide quality control reviews, and be prepared to provide designer of record responsibilities for work performed by staff. The role also requires development of structural engineering scopes of work and associated fees. Under minimal supervision, will independently evaluate, select, and apply industry standard engineering techniques and procedures related to structural engineering; Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design work;Prepare designs, specifications, and construction documents; Apply QA/QC requirements to own work and work of staff.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on structural engineering), Structural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering (with a focus on structural engineering); Masters Degree is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in the structural design of vertical construction projects in commercial, institutional, and Federal Government facilities
  • Licensed Professional Engineer. Structural Engineer (SE) license acquired via NCEES structural examination is a plus
  • The offices where this position can be located is Midvale, UT, Phoenix, AZ, or Denver, CO with ability to work in office a minimum of three days per week
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense, state and local government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects
  • Previous experience with Federal Department of Defense is a plus
  • Detailed knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria related to DoD Minimum Antiterrorism for Buildings and Design of Buildings for Progressive Collapse is preferred
  • Previous experience with design-build project delivery method is preferred
  • Prior exposure to blast mitigation of existing buildings is a plus
  • Must be computer literate in engineering analysis and design software including RISA, Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, STAAD Pro, ETABS, Enercalc, RAM, MS Office, etc.; working knowledge of AutoDesk Revit software is preferred
  • Possess the ability to work with other interfacing multi-disciplinary team members (i.e., project managers, electrical and mechanical engineers, fire protection engineers, civil engineers, architects, etc.)
  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational and staff management skills; previous experience managing employees is a preferred
  • Previous experience with resource assignment, staff workload balancing, and agility to address workload demands
  • Previous experience with business metrics including utilization, direct labor ratio, multipliers, revenue and profitability, and staff retention
  • Previous experience with developing work plans to successfully accomplish structural design assignments
  • Previous experience with preparing performance evaluations, evaluating staff technical capabilities, and developing career goals for department staff
  • Previous experience mentoring staff
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
