Job SummaryThe Data Security Analyst Sr. for the Information Security Office (ISO) is responsible for participating in the continual efforts to improve the information security capabilities of the University of Utah and University Health Care. This includes providing security guidance and technical risk assessment of new or ongoing projects, responding to and analyzing security incidents, and implementing new security technologies or processes.

              Responsibilities
              • Participate in security assessments of departments and colleges.
              • Plan, deploy and support enterprise security management tools such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) suites.
              • Participate in information security incident response and analysis.
              • Provide security evaluation and guidance regarding new technologies or processes.
              • Collaborate in the development of action plans to improve groups security posture.
              • Document information security risks to inform University leadership.
              • Assist in legal discovery and evidence acquisition/preservation.
              • Support and configure security safeguards in major cloud service platforms

                Minimum QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty, or equivalency; and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

                Department Specific Qualifications
                • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience in related fields.
                • Two or more years of progressively responsible information security experience.
                • Knowledge and understanding of information security risk concepts and principles.
                • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
                  Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
                  Preferences
                  • One or more security-specific certifications (CISSP, CISA, etc.)
                  • A thorough understanding of security industry standards (NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, etc.)
                  • Experience with compliance standards including HIPAA, FISMA, PCI, and FERPA.
                  • Formal vulnerability assessment and penetration testing experience.
                  • Experience related to large-scale incident response and digital forensics.
                  • Experience with information security in a higher-education or healthcare setting.
                  • Experience with EDR is preferred.
