Job Description:
Come join our awesome team as a Occupational Therapist with Home
Health of Western Colorado. This is a PRN role! Must have Pediatric
experience. Home Health of Western Colorado is part of Volunteers
of America National Services which serves as the Housing and
Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent
organization. Pay: $48.95 - $53.87 per hour, based on experience!
Schedule: PRN and requires travel to client's homes. The
Occupational Therapist will provide ongoing therapy to clients in a
timely manner per physician’s orders. Communicate progress within
the agency of client progress. The Occupational Therapist evaluates
and treats clients, communicates with families, physicians and
other health team members and maintains appropriate documentation
of services and complying with State and Federal regulations.
Participates in on-going agency meetings and conducts in-service
and training for agency staff on ongoing basis. QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly
by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American
Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy
Association or is eligible for certification by the American
Occupational Therapy Association under its requirements. Must be
licensed or registered in state as an Occupational Therapist. A
minimum of one year experience as an Occupational Therapist. Must
have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of
transportation. Ability to understand medical terminology and how
it applies to Occupational Therapy in order to communicate
effectively with clients, staff and physicians, and to prepare
meaningful reports. Coordination and dexterity necessary to
manipulate tools and materials while instructing clients. Adequate
strength and endurance to meet physical demands involved in using
equipment, tools and materials while instructing clients. Ability
to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as
timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluates clients and provides Occupational Therapy upon the
written order of the client's attending physician. Manages and
supervises the Occupational Therapy assistants and/or
rehabilitation aides in direct client care and client-related
activities. Plans, implements, coordinates and evaluates the
Occupational Therapy offered by the department (i.e.: assist with
scheduling, transportation, filing, and mailing). Provides
Occupational Therapy to the clients upon written order of the
resident’s attending physician and specifically: Evaluates each
client and initiates any ordered treatment(s). Communicates a
report on the client's progress to the attending physician.
Consults with the physician regarding clients' change of condition
as indicated during the course of the treatment. Re-evaluates the
client in conjunction with the attending physician. Supervises the
delivery of Occupational Therapy Services on a regular basis to
ensure an acceptable level of performance from Occupational
Assistants. Prepares and maintains treatment records with progress
notes and observations, including: Physician’s orders. Objectives
of treatments. Plan of care. Treatment. Procedures(s) and baseline
clinical data. Evaluation of progress and client's response to
treatment. Other pertinent information as required by the
facility’s policies. Participates in client care planning
conferences when needed to coordinate the care of the clients.
Communicate with Director of Clinical Services and other health
team members regarding client progress, problems and plans.
Administers personnel functions of the Occupational Therapy
Department: Develops, implements, and maintains work routines and
staffing schedules. Initiates and directs in-service training
programs for the department. Participates in Interdisciplinary Team
meetings. Confers with the Director of Clinical Services on an
annual basis relevant to the development and implementation of
department objectives with respect to overall agency and
organizational goals. Conducts or participates in continuing
education programs for agency staff as coordinated by the Staff
Development Coordinator. Attends required in-services & completes
assign online modules. Assists in ensuring that Occupational
Therapy services are provided on a continuous basis without
interruption. This includes finding supportive personnel if regular
employee is absent due to vacation, sickness, leave of absence or
other reasons, excluding Holidays. Assist with finding replacement
for Therapist when needed. Participates in department infection
prevention and control, and safety programs. Performs other duties
or special assignments as directed by the Director of Clinical
Services. Comply with the Occupational Therapy Practice Act in the
