Job Description:
Details The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology,
and Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah
School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Pediatric
Gastroenterologist with a primary focus in general pediatric
gastroenterology. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a
vibrant and collegial academic environment, and work in a
children’s hospital ranked as one of the best in the U.S. The
Pediatric Gastroenterologist will be part of an incredibly
collegial 20 faculty member clinical team in the Division of
Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. The
physician will provide outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric
gastroenterology patients and will include teaching pediatric
residents and GI fellows. The clinical focus will include general
pediatric gastroenterology and there is an expectation for outreach
at satellite clinics. Although the primary focus of this position
is clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work
including education, investigation, and administration, as well as
advocacy. Clinical positions without an expectation for academic
work are also available. Clinical activities will be carried out at
Primary Children’s Hospital ( PCH ) Miller Campus, a 66-bed
Children’s Hospital in Lehi, Utah, approximately 20 minutes south
of Salt Lake City, Utah. Some clinical activities may be carried
out at PCH Salt Lake Campus, a 289-bed Children’s Hospital in Salt
Lake City. The Division serves the largest geographic catchment
area in the United States, with a diverse mix of patients from
Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, and New Mexico. The Division
currently consists of 20 physicians, 6 advanced practice providers,
10 registered nurses, and 4 pediatric GI fellows. The Division has
all pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition clinical
services represented except for small bowel transplantation. The
liver transplant program has performed >300 liver transplants
since its inception. The program is one of the only centers in the
country with a pediatric ERCP / advanced endoscopy program.
Additional programs include fully equipped and staffed endoscopy
suites, a gastrointestinal Motility Disorders Center, a
multidisciplinary IBD program with close collaboration with an IBD
surgery program, close collaboration with the Cystic Fibrosis
Center , Food Allergy and Eosinophilic Disorders Clinic, the
Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center , a Feeding and Swallowing
Center , a comprehensive nutrition center, an Aerodigestive Clinic,
a Home Enteral Feeding Transitions program (post- NICU ), and a
multidisciplinary Colorectal Center . Qualified candidates must
have successfully completed a Pediatrics Residency and a Pediatric
Gastroenterology Fellowship; and be Board Eligible/Board Certified
in Pediatric Gastroenterology. The selected candidate will receive
a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the
Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with
experience and qualifications. Appointment as Clinical Attending is
also available without expectation for academic work, depending on
candidate preference. The Department and University offers a
