Job Description:
The University Campus Store is looking for outgoing and
energetic people to join our team. We have been part of the
University for over 100 years and serve a large and diverse campus
community. The Campus Store is seeking a Utah Red Zone Manager to
oversee management of the merchandise departments at the main
Campus Store along with other applicable auxiliary Red Zone
locations, under the direction of the Asst. Director of Stores. The
Utah Red Zone is a key department within our main campus store and
is the official retailer for University of Utah athletics offering
officially licensed apparel, giftware, and accessories. This
position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all
operations of the Utah Red Zone at these locations and is
responsible for directing, planning, and managing overall company
business operations, including but not limited to staffing,
scheduling, quality control, customer service, inventory management
and the merchandising and visual display standards. This position
is also responsible for maximizing return on investment,
operational effectiveness and the successful implementation of
promotions and events. Under direction of the Asst. Director of
Stores this position will ensure these locations meet all
University of Utah Campus Store service and merchandising standards
while tailoring service to meet the needs of each location's unique
customer base. They will manage up to 20 part-time staff who are
responsible for the daily operations in a fast paced,

PRN34933B 00435 - University Campus Store COMPENSATION: $60,000 -
$65,000 DOE WORK SCHEDULE: M-F, 8a-5p, some weekends and holidays
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Utah Red Zone Manager operates under the
direction of and in collaboration with the Asst. Director of
Stores. This position also partners closely with the campus store's
merchandise buying and marketing teams. The focus of this position
is developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs to
improve and maximize customer service, sales, and profit and other
store objectives. Through regular campus outreach, develops
relationships with key partners within Utah Athletics and their
marketing partners to gain a full understanding of their Utah
merchandise needs. Partners with vendors and the campus store's
buying team to generate and maximize merchandise special orders and
inter-departmental sales, while providing expert product knowledge
and superior customer service. Customer Service Training: Develop &
implement training programs to provide a high-level of customer
service for in person, telephone, and email customer engagement.
Consistently reviews and evaluates programs and identifies areas
for improvement in collaboration with the management team. Training
on product and company knowledge. How to communicate, engage with
the customer. Implementation of a Five Step to a Sale Approach
Merchandise/Marketing/Inventory Work with the buying team to ensure
product mix meets customer requests. Stockroom management ensuring
inventory is properly stored and organized for easy and accurate
rotation to sales floor. Organizing and rotating floor layout to
ensure appropriate rotation of sales floor merchandise, creating a
feeling of newness and reflects seasons to maximize sales. Working
with Asst. Director of Stores, participate in the planning and
development of the sales floor plans to ensure the floor maximizes
sales opportunities Work with the buying team on overall
merchandise needs, including general merchandise assortment plans,
department orders, special orders and orders for offsite events.
Oversee and maintain store presentation, cleanliness, and
organization of all sales locations. Work with Asst. Director of
Stores and buying team to ensure inventory needs are communicated
in all departments of each location. Personnel Management: Works
with sales floor supervisors to ensure hiring for on-going and
seasonal staff is conducted in a timely manner. Manages payroll
budget effectively. Cross trains and redeploys staff as business
demands change. Performance management and annual reviews of staff.
Consistency in maintaining Campus Store and University policy and
procedures. Loss prevention training Budget: Develops, Implements,
and achieves budget for the Red Zone locations. Audit expenses and
revenues to ensure successful budget control. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of
education can be substituted for two years of related work
experience). Four years of progressively more responsible
management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's
area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw
conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated
leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes
in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to
ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided
supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.
Master's degree in a related area may be preferred. Applicants must
demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential
functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
PREFERENCES: Previous retail management experience, preferably in
licensed products, apparel, giftware or housewares. Excellent
verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft
Office Suite or related software. Organized with attention to
detail. Works well under pressure and deadlines; ability to
multitask. Strong leadership and management skills with ability to
motivate staff. Excellent customer service abilities. Ability to
develop and maintain budgets. Thorough understanding of company
