Utah Transit AuthorityJob SummaryThe Network Administrator III
is responsible to monitor local and wide area networks in a
multi-platform, protocol, and operating system environment. Perform
installation and configuration of all network devices and
troubleshoot performance and complex network issues. The
Administrator will work closely with Information Security
Administrators; Systems Support Analysts, and other network
administrators to accomplish infrastructure tasks and initiatives.
The Administrator will propose standards for infrastructure needs,
changes, and participate in the creation of strategies for new
projects. The Administrator will serve as an all-around network
operations expert providing support and cross-training with other
Network Administrators and IT personnel in operations and
configuration information on a wide variety of network systems,
including network switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure.
Also, the Administrator researches new technologies and
participates in the creation of proposals with sound justifications
and options.Minimum QualificationsThe requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.To
carry out essential functions of this job, must have a valid Utahs
drivers license with no more than four moving violations in the
past three years; or, if a non-driver, must be able to travel
efficiently by another means to and from varied locations within
UTAs service area. Lack of a drivers license does not necessarily
preclude employment. No applicant may have more than one violation
of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs within the
last ten years.Must be able to remain calm and work competently in
a dynamic and occasionally high-pressure environmentMust be willing
to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays, and to share in
the on-call responsibilities as required to support a 24x7 network
environment.EDUCATION/TRAININGBachelors degree in Computer Science
or Information Systems is required or equivalent work experience as
defined below in a closely related field.EXPERIENCE Thorough
understanding of routed and routing protocols; demonstrated ability
to troubleshoot medium to complex IPv4 routing issuesStrongly
preferred experience in the administration and configuration of
Cisco 9000, 7000 and 6000 series devicesAdministration and
configuration Access layer switching such as Cisco 2960/3750
seriesEight (8) years of production support and design of the above
technologiesEight (8) years of experience with network security
technologies and best practices Eight (8) years of production
support for one or more of the major firewall platforms such
as:Cisco ASAJuniper SSG and ISG productsCheck Point NGXFortinet
FortigatePalo AltoVMWare NSX Firewalls Significant experience and
knowledge of network monitoring/management technologies (SNMP,
Netflow, syslog, monitoring applications, etc.)Eight (8) years
experience providing technical support, troubleshooting to solve
complex network related issues, managing and configuring services
including but not limited to DHCP, DNS, BGP, HSRP, dynamic routing,
switching, VLAN, VoIP, MOE, SIP, Dot1Q, enterprise wireless
technologies, and physical network components.To carry out

understanding of Classless Internet Domain Routing (CIDR); ability
to clearly explain and articulate CIDR Thorough understanding of
Layer2 technologies and ability to clearly explain and articulate
Layer2 strengths and weaknesses Expert knowledge of layer 2
switching and related technologies, i.e. Cisco switches,
EtherChannel, BPDU Guard, RSTP, Port Security, and Spanning Tree
Technologies. Expert knowledge of layer 3 routing technologies,
i.e. EIGRP, OSFP, BGP and HSRP. Thorough understanding of detailed
technical features, functions and benefits of a controller-based
wireless architecture Expert understanding and ability to
articulate how CSMA/CD functions Expert knowledge of QOS. Expert
knowledge of MPLS. Expert knowledge of Multicast. Expert knowledge
of Metro Ethernet and related technologies. Thorough understanding
of IPv4 and 32-bit numbers Working knowledge of IPv6 and 128-bit
numbers Must be able to clearly communicate technical information
effectively both verbally and in writing to both technical and
non-technical stakeholders High level of working knowledge,
understanding, and troubleshooting all layers of the network stack
(OSI Model).Project management experience as a lead. Must be able
to understand the scope of their work and role within IT, thereby
prioritizing projects and help requests accordingly, as well as
seeking best-practices and long-term solutions over temporary
patchesStrong organizational skills with the ability to document
work tasks, also anticipate problems, plan schedules, and monitor
performance per priorities and deadlines.Technical documentation
skills. Network troubleshooting skills and knowledge of network
topologies.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong
customer-service focus.Highly self-motivated and directed.Able to
communicate and present complex multidisciplinary ideas in both
technical and user-friendly language.Competent team leadership and
able to transfer knowledge to other in the team.Strong analytical
and problem-solving abilities.Experience working in a
team-oriented, collaborative environment.Ability to conduct
research into complex issues, standards, and products. Knowledge
and experience working with the IEEE 802.3 ethernet standard.
Strong customer service skills and ability to foster these skills
in others Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as
servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, wireless devices,
modems, network interface cards, and so on. Strong knowledge of
current protocols, network standards and principals.Must be able to
pass a BCI, FBI, and UCJIS background check-OR -An equivalent
combination or relevant education and experience.Pay Rate:Starting
