L3Harris' Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a
Specialist, Information Security Systems Engineer to join our team.
This position will be based at our Salt Lake City-UT facility.
Position Overview:
As a Specialist, Information Security Systems Engineer at L3Harris
Technologies, you will be involved in the design and development of
communication capabilities that enable the warfighter and save
lives. These communications systems range from small embedded
devices to enterprise systems for airborne, ground, and/or nautical
platforms.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Define, design, implement, verify, and obtain accreditation for
both the systems themselves as well as any associated cryptographic
products.
- Work at the systems level, understanding the designs and
interactions of the system hardware and software
components.
- Communicate technical status and potential issues to internal
and external customers.
- Adapt to change, focus on timeliness, and ability to
collaborate in joint decision making processes are
essential.
- Asks questions and seeks clarification on unfamiliar and/or
unclear concepts, designs, and implementation detail
- Travel up to 25% as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant
experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior
related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of
prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years' on-the-job experience related to
Information Systems Security Engineering
- Possess one of the following certifications at time of hire, or
obtain one within 6 months of hire: Associate of CISSP, CCNA
Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP - Certification
(DoD 8140/8570)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security
clearance.
- Familiar with communications systems, including computer
networking concepts, protocols (incl. TCP/IP), and security
methodologies
- Familiar with security engineering principles and
processes
- Aware of basic security engineering design patterns, processes,
and technologies
- Able to work in both group and individual settings under the
direction, oversight, and mentoring of senior engineers
- Asks questions and seeks clarification on unfamiliar and/or
unclear concepts, designs, and implementation details
- Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, and multi-tasking
skills
- RF communications
- Scripting languages and environments (Perl/Python, PowerShell,
etc.) useful in automating system configuration and validating
security mechanisms
- IA vulnerability testing and related network and system test
tools; e.g., Retina, NMap, Nessus, OSCAP, Security Content
Automation Protocol (SCAP)
- Experience with matrixed development teams (hardware, software,
systems engineers) and embedded systems engineering
- Awareness of the NIST Risk Management Framework Assessment and
Authorization process and the associated control catalog (NIST SP
800-37, 800-53)
- JCIDS, DoDAF/TOGAF, RMF, CNSSI 1253, DJSIG, NIACAP, FIPS 140-2
or 140-3
- High assurance crypto systems
- Gov't advisory/assistance as SETA/A&AS contractor in
Cybersecurity-related role
- Agile development processes
- Government compliance applications such as Xacta, and
eMASS
- Other security or technical certifications: CISSP, CISA, CISM,
CEH, CPT, MCSE, CCNA, Red Hat, Network+, SANS GIAC, Security+, CCNA
Security, CCNP Security, etc.
- Experience with TEMPEST, Anti-Tamper, or other system security
specialties
