Job Description:The Compliance/Regulatory Sr Partner position works closely with the Vice President of Business Ethics and Compliance and the Corporate Compliance Department of Intermountain Healthcare to evaluate and lead regulatory compliance initiatives throughout the organization and to lead committees and teams, as needed. Specifically, this position actively and proactively analyzes regulatory and policy standards and collaborates with Compliance and operations leaders throughout the organization to ensure compliance in business and strategy development, implementation, and routine business practices. This position will analyze complex information and provide thoughtful direction and legal advice.Scope

This is a corporate-level position in the Intermountain Healthcare Compliance Department with involvement and collaboration in all areas and levels of leadership and operations. The Intermountain Corporate Compliance Program is a system-wide program that serves to promote a culture of compliance and ethics, ensure quality of care, and reduce Intermountain's risk of government audits, fines, penalties, or sanctions.

Job Essentials

1. Complete projects and committee work under the direction of the Vice President of Business Ethics and Compliance to implement the department vision and strategy as well as corporate initiatives.
2. Promote ethical practices throughout the organization by leading committees and task forces and collaborating with members of multi-specialty teams.
3. Analyze strategic growth initiatives and provide regulatory summaries and recommendations to identify and mitigate risk.
4. Identify, analyze, and interpret statutes and regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, third party payor requirements, HIPAA, HITECH, or other privacy and security requirements. Assesses the impact on Intermountain operations and identifies operational or clinical areas affected. Translates complex legal text into understandable language and summaries and develops actionable steps for individuals and departments.
5. Educate and train to inform and advise compliance and operations leaders throughout the organization.
6. Review/complete projects related to policy and regulatory analysis. Advise operations teams and leaders on compliant and risk mitigating business strategies and processes.
7. Support and improve Compliance Department processes through coverage of the Compliance Hotline on a rotational basis, investigate compliance issues, and develop quality improvement strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree or Juris doctorate degree from an accredited institution. Education is verified.

At least one year of work experience in a healthcare or legal setting with responsibilities and duties related to issues in compliance and ethics.

Experience understanding, summarizing, and analyzing federal or state regulations applicable to the job functions. The experience may also include leading or supporting the implementation of processes, policies/procedures, and education. Experience could include identification or resolution of issues related to new or updated federal or state statues, regulations, or guidance.

Experience leading or participating in committees, task forces, or project teams to analyze regulations and offer legal expertise and opinions.
- and -
Experience effectively and confidently advising and interacting with all levels of an organization.
- and -
Experience using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email, and scheduling applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare or comparable setting.

Knowledge of the Intermountain structure, operations, policies, and procedures.

Experience with Medicare Advantage
- and -
Working knowledge of Medicare coding principles.
- and -
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- and -
HIPAA and HITECH experience.-and-Compliance experience specific to population health-and-Basic understanding of regulatory requirements for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Third Party Administrators (TPAs), Value Based Organizations, Physician networks under risk arrangements -and- Basic understanding of HIPAA regulations as they apply to TPA's, ACO's, etc. Physical Requirements:Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
