(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.The metrology department is looking for individuals who have proven measurement skills using large scale coordinate measurement methods such as laser trackers, photogrammetry and structured light scanners and the experience to plan and lead large scale industrial measurement projects. Candidate should have the ability to solve complex projects and interpret and translate customer requests into a coordinated measurement plan using the most effective methods available to meet the project requirements. A solid understanding of GD&T is required. Additionally some Cad experience, Jig and fixture experience and/or reverse engineering experience is desired. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for providing technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Tasks shall include planning, overseeing and/or performing measurements as well as producing measurement reports. Provide analyses of data or documentation where guidelines are provided in such areas as statistical analysis, model dimensional consistency and accuracy, and uses quantitative judgment concerning technical data. Performs complex and detailed measurements, including feature alignments and positional error calculations based on Datum structures and drawing / model requirements. Conducts tests and records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to specifications. Ensures equipment is functioning as required. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats and compiles coordinate measurement data using available metrology equipment. This includes Laser Trackers, Photogrammetry, Structured light scanning or other available tactile or non-contact means of taking measurements. Collects measurements using company approved software packages such as Verisurf, Spatial Analyzer, Polyworks, GOM, or similar software Produces measurement reports to disseminate finding and show results and root cause if required. Able to work with CAD models to Prepare for measurement sessions or use raw data to reverse engineer CAD surfaces or CAD solids. Work with other metrologists or in small cross functional groups to achieve a defined goal Acts as lead and provide direction to less experienced staff. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices Other duties as assigned or required. Job Qualifications: Typically requires an associate's degree in engineering or related technical field and one or more years of related experience. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Must demonstrate extensive knowledge of engineering principles, theories and concepts. Must possess: (1) the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and work with minimal supervision; (2) the ability to read, interpret, manipulate and produce blueprints, drawings and other engineering documentation; (3) strong organization skills; (4) the ability to identify issues, interpret and analyze data and present findings; (5) excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, assess situations, make judgments, and give direction to others; and (6) excellent knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
