Northrop Grumman Space Sector Strategic Deterrent Systems Division
is seeking a Staff-level Systems Engineer, with extensive
experience performing in an Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) role.
This position will be located in Roy, UT and support the Advanced
Programs organization.
This position will be responsible for influencing conceptual and
preliminary design and technology maturation of obsolescence and/or
capability upgrades to existing deterrent systems such as Minuteman
III and Ground Based Strategic Deterrent as well as new advanced
concepts for future deterrence needs in the areas of ballistic and
cruise missiles, nuclear command, control, and communication, and
support systems/subsystems such as cyber-defense, security,
decision aides, etc. as well as peculiar support equipment
including items such as transportation vehicles. The position
reports to the lead of Advanced Programs Support Product
Organization and interfaces with other Advanced Programs Core
Organization members. The Advanced Programs Support Product core
organization is envisioned to provide ILS discipline guidance, as
it relates to influencing designs from a cost-effective operations
and sustainment strategies, support equipment including aspects of
ground and airborne transportation systems, and,
interface/integration with other segments/elements of a weapon
system (e.g. - vehicle, payload, command and control, launch
equipment, etc.).
The preferred candidate will have an extensive background across
the product-lifecycle sustainment arena. Primary technical areas of
interest needed to support this role include: conducting systems
engineering requirements and specification development; Life Cycle
Cost and Level of Repair analysis (LCC and LORA, respectively);
identification of new, reuse, and/or modification of Support
Equipment/Test Equipment (SE/TE); Reliability, Availability, and
Maintainability (RAM); Safety; Packaging, Handling, Storage, and
Transportation (PHST); Human Factors; Maintenance Task Analysis
(MTA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Conditioned
Based Maintenance (CBM+); and, mentoring of design teams regarding
operations and sustainment aspects of any/all proposed designs
and/or design changes.
The selected candidate will act as a Technical Lead for AP Support
Product Group, and will represent the organization in providing
solutions to difficult technical issues associated with complex
projects, acting as an advisor to leadership and customers, and,
mentoring/training of design teams and subordinates. This includes
identifying and addressing program risks to ensure team success,
mentoring staff in problem solving, facilitating technical
solutions, providing staff with the appropriate resources to solve
problems
What you'll get to do:
Provide mentorship to a growing Advanced Programs team of designers
that focuses on product operations and sustainment during
conceptual and preliminary design and technology maturation for
obsolescence and capability upgrades to existing deterrent systems
such as Minuteman III and Ground Based Strategic Deterrent as well
as new advanced concepts for future deterrence needs in the areas
of ballistic and cruise missiles, nuclear command, control, and
communication, and support systems/subsystems such as
cyber-defense, security, decision aides, etc.
Contribute to projects on trade studies, architecture development,
and system engineering to including ILS design influence to produce
credible conceptual and preliminary weapon system designs that meet
potential customers' performance, cost, schedule, and risk
thresholds while informing them of the surrounding design space for
capability considerations, especially capability versus life cycle
cost versus technical availability date.
Contribute to identification, assessment, and tracking of an ILS
technology roadmap and/or associated existing or developing support
system capability gaps to feed Advanced Programs technology
development and conceptual design process.
Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the
capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing
business
Operate in an advanced design environment and collaborate across
the Space Sector Divisions and other Sectors as required to
accomplish the team goals
Conceptualize and mature new business for growth of the
Division
Transition innovative solutions, technologies, and advanced
concepts for US strategic deterrence interests to programs of
record for product development and fielding.
Leverage strong ILS Engineering analyses to promote cost-effective,
affordable, and field-supportable products over their intended life
cycle.
Leverage strong ILS and life cycle modeling skills to effectively
promote system reliability and supportability during IRAD for
long-term system support, including the following:
ILS and Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (ILSP and LCSP, respectively)
and their interdependencies within all other program efforts (i.e.
- Contracts, Program Management, Systems Engineering,
Manufacturing, Security, Subcontractors, etc.)
Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) and their
reports
Safety and Human Factors and their reports
Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) and their reports
Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCC) and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
and their reports
Maintenance Task Analysis and Reliability-Centered/Condition-Based
Maintenance and their reports
Support Equipment and Recommendations Data (SERD) and their
reports
Test Equipment and Unit Under Test (UUT) analysis and their
reports
Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHST) and their
reports
Technical Manual and Training Documentation and their reports
Supply Support (Provisioning) data and Spares/Repair Parts
Recommendations and their reports

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule
allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday
to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive

Job Qualifications:
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
20 years of related experience with Bachelor's; 10 years with
Master's; 6 years with PhD
Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science in Logistics, Mechanical,
Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring
in the last 5 years
US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP),
and ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance
INCOSE certification as a Certified Systems Engineering
Professional - CSEP, and/or, SOLE certification as a Certified
Master Logistician - CML
Experienced with Product LifeCycle Management (PLM) software, such
as TeamCenter and/or SharePoint
Experienced in use of ILS-related tools (i.e. - SLICWave, COMPASS,
CASA, CBM+, etc.)
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Proficient with 3D design / 2D drawing CAD in CATIA and/or NX
Experience with DoD weapon system support system conceptual and
preliminary design, particularly related to design analysis cycles,
cost versus capability trade studies, and multi-design discipline
integration
INCOSE certification as an Expert Systems Engineering Professional
- ESEP, and/or, SOLE certification as a Certified Professional
Logistician - CPL
Active Top Secret security clearance with adjudication in the last
6 years
Demonstrated self-starter
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills, strong written,
communication, oral presentations skills, and ability to lead group
discussions
