Position Overview:

L3Harris Communications Systems is currently seeking Senior Engineers for the Technical Fellow position. The L3Harris Technical Fellow position is a highly selective technical leadership career path for engineers and scientists focused on those who establish the technical direction of the organization and drive solutions to overcome technical barriers. Industry-wide engineering Fellows represent a diverse, exceptional group of engineers who consistently demonstrate technical breadth, complex problem-solving skills, mentorship, innovation, a commitment to delivering customer's needs, and are respected as experts in their field by their colleagues and peers.

Candidates must be recognized in their field for technical accomplishments and/or technical leadership. Candidates are expected to have deep experience creating new designs and working closely with customers from inception stages to the fielding of systems. This role is considered a segment level resource and may be called to support at other L3Harris sites and sectors in addition to normal activities.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Create vision and strategy for technology development
  • Uphold the cohesive Fellow culture that fosters innovation, execution, transparency and collaboration
  • Serve as a hands-on engineering leader, who easily gains the respect of senior and junior engineers
  • Directs team into exploration of new problem solution areas with novel concepts and approaches, guiding scope definition and prioritizing problems for investigation; champions continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Contribute to new business pursuits by growing cross-functional relationships in new business development to advance our market footprint consistent with the projected business plan
  • Recommend tactics and strategies that directly impact the achievement of overall business or functional results
  • Provide significant input to and help guide industry standards.
  • Drive advancement of the state-of-the-art technology through appropriate industry interactions
  • Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring and training to future engineering technical leaders
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with minimum 20 years experience
    • Experience managing the engineering content of DoD proposals and/or new business pursuits
    • Experience in system level development, requirements definition, analysis, integration and risk mitigation for communications systems
    • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
      Desired Qualifications
      • Deep experience creating winning technical solutions for competitive pursuits
      • Experience with the Department of Defense acquisition process.
      • Experience leading development and production of modem and wireless communication systems or vision systems.
      • Demonstrated experience leading in trade studies on complex electronic sub-system/system issues and components
      • Deep experience in one or more of the following: embedded software development, wireless communications, digital signal processing, network design, RF design, Electro- optical/Infrared design, simulation, cyber security, Model Based Systems Engineering, System architecture, and System of Systems design.
        • Demonstrated problem solving and technical/programmatic judgment
        • Ability to communicate confidently and concisely to both engineers and non-engineers
        • Proven ability to translate the vision/strategy into clear priorities and direction
        • Track record of being highly collaborative with a proven ability to quickly establish trust and credibility among peers and customers
        • Experience navigating matrix organizations to identify key stakeholders and create efficiencies in related efforts
        • Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
        • Strong sense of ownership
