Job Description:
The Parks & Streets position offers full-time year-round outdoor
opportunities with Park City Municipal Corporation. The Summer
season consists of technical irrigation job duties, and the Winter
season brings snow removal. The areas of parks include recreational
spaces, trails, sports fields, and landscaped areas. This position
may require the operation of medium and heavy construction
equipment and other specialized equipment while providing seamless
cooperative service to our residents and visitors. EXAMPLES OF
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES May operate specialized heavy and light
equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, mowers, utility
vehicles, and other similar equipment in the maintenance, and
construction. Checks and services assigned equipment performs
routine maintenance and emergency repairs; reports mechanical
problems to the Field Supervisor and/or Fleet Operations Team
Leader Monitors and adjusts the irrigation system to effectively
irrigate parks including the installation, repair, and maintenance.
* Troubleshoots and repairs irrigation systems. * Ensures
assignments such as planting, pruning, weeding, fertilization,
chemical application, mowing, field maintenance, irrigation
operation, and repair are completed in a timely and professional
manner. *Heavily involved in the removal of snow during the winter
months including plowing and hauling of snow from City streets,
sidewalks, trails, and parking lots. *Ensures assignments such as
snow removal, flood control, street repairs, signage, and
maintenance is completed in a timely and professional manner.
Accurately applies fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, pesticides,
etc. to stimulate growth or in control of various pests and plant
diseases. Monitors and evaluates the work of contract service
providers. Oversees contract labor and construction projects.
Provides input in the development of contracts. Performs skilled
construction functions related to repair and maintenance of all
City assets. * Ensures all City and departmental safety policies
and procedures are adhered to in day-to-day operations. Assists in
implementing and maintaining a safe workplace, safe work practices,
and safety programs. Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES --- Ability to establish and
maintain positive effective working relationships with employees,
other divisions, and the public --- Ability to understand, follow
and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing ---
Knowledge of landscaping, horticultural, irrigation and field
maintenance practices --- Skilled in the safe application and use
of chemicals and fertilizers --- Must have the ability to act
effectively in emergency and stressful situations --- Ability to be
a positive leader with seasonal staff, coordinating, facilitating,
teaching, coaching, and training employees. --- Ability to work
collaboratively in a self-managed team environment --- Skilled in
the operation of a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment
under varying conditions --- Knowledge of minor equipment
maintenance and repair functions --- Working knowledge of the
hazards and safety precautions common to mechanized equipment
operation --- Knowledgeable in the use of computer systems ---
Ability to work alone and make decisions --- Ability to adhere to
all City and departmental safety policies and procedures --- Must
have or ability to obtain City National Incident Management System
Certification EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Required: --- Must have
or ability to obtain a Class B Utah Commercial Driver's License
with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements. --- High School Diploma or
equivalent Preferred: --- Working knowledge of Park City Municipal
geographic area --- 2 years working with construction-type
equipment PHYSICAL DEMANDS --- While performing the duties of this
job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, run,
and hear. --- The employee is occasionally required to use hands to
finger, handle or operate objects, controls, or tools. Ability to
climb and pull own weight in and out of equipment --- Must be able
to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel,
crouch or crawl, taste and smell. --- The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. --- Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus. --- Often required to work non-traditional
working hours which include, weekends, holidays and nights. ---
Physically demanding work environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT --- The
employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high,
precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid
conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic
chemicals. --- Work is performed primarily in vehicles and outdoor
settings, in all weather conditions including extreme temperature
extremes, and includes day, swing and night shifts. --- Work
environment may be physically demanding --- The noise level in the
work environment can be moderate to high. --- Occasional on-call
working hours including evenings and weekends. --- Periodic
exposure to stressful situations The physical demands and work
