We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect that will focus
on driving data solutions/technologies for applications, as well as
analytics/business intelligence, and as a data service offering
central to the future of the bank.
As a core member of the Enterprise Architecture team, your
expertise and collaboration skills will help drive development of
quality data solutions and data ecosystems, while ensuring
alignment to strategic technology directions. Whether working
alongside project team members as part of an Agile Release Train or
helping to build patterns and reference architectures for data
standards, or driving modern data solutions, your contributions
will help ensure Zions applications and solutions are built to
deliver maximum business value. You will be a driver in Proof of
Concepts, Pattern Development and Architectures utilized to
transform Zions Data and Application space to achieve these
goals.
The Data Solutions Architect will:
- Serve as the technical expert for data platform architectures
and solutions to include traditional and modern data
platforms.
- Focus on complex, interrelated applications and systems being
designed to drive strategic direction in today's integrated data
platforms in various business areas.
- Ensure successful engagements by delivering on critical
business data requirements for current and future systems.
- Consistently delivery:
- Architecture and Design documentation for data platforms and
their integration
- Technology evaluation and selection recommendations of data
related solutions
- Deployment documents and production transition plans
- Integration with Data Warehousing - design and best
practices
- Requirements analysis for business efforts dependent on modern
Big Data platforms, data integration, processing, analytics, and
reporting The main responsibilities of the role can be summarized
as follows:
- Provide thought leadership and drive architecture and the
design of modern data/data as a service solution and demonstrate
the understanding of concepts, best practices and functions to
implement data solutions in a corporate environment.
- Ability to provide technical expertise in traditional and
modern data integration/processing patterns.
- Become conversant with and cognizant of the future direction of
systems, how that direction will impact the enterprise, and how
future and current systems can be exploited for the benefit of the
enterprise
- Lead/Participate in the evaluation and integration of Data
Technologies as well as developing Proof of Concepts to assist
engineering teams.
- Use business acumen to understand what drives the organization,
which factors influence strategy and how the data can contribute to
the success of the strategy
- Build and conduct solution design reviews for specific
solutions ensuring the solution is aligned with current and future
state data architecture standards, technologies, principles as well
as funding preparations.
- Bring new and innovative ideas around data related
practices
- Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural
vision for an Agile Release Train (ART) to help ensure the system
under development is fit for its intended purpose. Technical
Experience and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a technology leader designing and
developing data architecture solutions with more than 5+ years
specializing in big data architecture or data analytics; Requires a
bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related area.
- Ability to listen for understanding, resolve conflicts,
negotiate compromise, and collaboratively lead business leaders and
project teams to optimal solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including
presentation experience, with proven leadership and mentoring
abilities
- Strong, in-depth experience in data systems (modeling, data
mining, processing) for both traditional and modern big data
platforms.
- Understanding of streaming technologies and their application
such as Kafka, and the utilization of Spark/PySpark Databricks is
preferred.
- Experience with integration technologies that provide API
management, messaging/streaming, file transfer, integration
gateway, and/or complex integration techniques as well as Data
Virtualization with such tools as Denodo or Dremio
- Experience with a range of big data architectures and
distributions such as Cloudera or Hortonworks based upon the Apache
Stack or MongoDB types of repositories.
- Experience working with Public Cloud Offerings (AWS, Azure,
GCP) with emphasis on integration, storage, and data processing A
combination of the above qualifications may meet requirements.
Location: This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a
minimum of three days per week in the office at the Zions
Technology Center in Midvale, Utah.
The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology
campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill
