Job Description:
The Central Processing Coordinator has responsibility over one or
more specific areas, processes or accountabilities. Acts as a
resource for Surgical Services and other departments within the
hospital. Ensures the policies and procedures are followed for
their area of responsibility. Coordinates education for their area
of responsibility.
**Shift Details: Mon - Fri 3 PM to 11:30 PM**
Job Essentials
As needed, acts as backup for a Supervisor, other Coordinators
Oversees inventory control of instruments and instrument
maintenance
Monitors quality parameters and documentation
Monitors and maintains sterilization records / reports
Provides training and education to new CP Techs
May coordinate employees' scheduling, workflow, and day-to-day
duties.
Acts as working lead for CP Techs and able to work in every area of
the department
Coordinates Surgery schedule with resources available in CP
Coordinates Education, In-service meetings, etc.
May coordinate human tissue procurement and all regulatory aspects
of human tissue
Minimum Qualifications
Current CP Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing
Association)
One year of work experience in Central Processing
Proficient and subject matter expert in all specialties
Able to train in all specialties
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels,
sterile indicator tags, colors, operate equipment, identify
equipment and supplies.
- and -
Frequent interactions with care providers that require employee to
verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken
information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately,
particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and
delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes
frequent computer use and typing for documenting, accessing needed
information, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer
equipment. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, reach and carry
supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying
weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting, obtaining and
distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling
portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to
navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on
the floor, etc.).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position with person
protective equipment for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly
rate dependent upon experience.
$19.58 - $29.16
