Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
This position is responsible for assisting the Senior Buyer in
coordinating the purchase of raw materials, packaging products, and
non-stock items, through a third party buyer, in quantities
sufficient to ensure that general supply and service requirements
of customers will be met while keeping inventories within
acceptable financial levels; ensure company policies and procedures
are adhered to; track purchase order information; approve purchase
orders and negotiate disputes on vendor invoices; -and, perform
other related duties as assigned. - Works with the Planning
Supervisor to plan schedules for manufacturing customer demands
driven by sales order and forecast. - The position requires the
employee to possess the following qualifications and perform the
following job functions and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Senior Buyer with the following functions:
Responsible for the assisting with the purchase of assigned raw
materials, packaging products, and non-stock items under the
general direction, review, and approval of the Senior Buyer in
order to assure that the general supply and service requirements of
the company are met.
Monitors inventory, on an ongoing basis, to ensure enough inventory
items are purchased and on-hand, in amounts required to fill
customer orders and meet customer deadline dates, while keeping
overstock within financially acceptable levels,
Assist Senior Buyer in coordinating with Planning, Production,
R&D, QA, QC, Technical Services, Health Sciences, Marketing,
Sales, Legal, Accounting, and senior management to assure a timely
delivery of materials to Manufacturing.
Responsible for coordinating with Customer Account Managers for
forecasting and planning purposes,
Develops and maintains positive business relationships with current
and new suppliers and customers, when necessary,
Inputs purchase order information into electronic database and
tracks on a regular basis,
Approves purchase orders and reviews, approves, and negotiates
disputes on vendor invoices when necessary.
Provides status updates to customer management as requested,
Maintains supply and purchasing records.
Assist the Planning Supervisor with the following functions:
Maintains close working relationship with Supply Chain personnel
ongoing.
Performs functions in executing the master schedule.
Is Liaison between Account Management and Master
Planner/Scheduler
Coordinates scheduling and prioritization of customer demands as
per assigned responsibilities driven by Customer Service, Sales
Order, and forecast. -
MRP Planning
Performs Supply Chain transactions.
Performs Inventory Control.
Trouble shoots and Problem solves.
Coordinates efforts to meet on-time performance and other company
objectives.
Assists the Master Planner/Scheduler and other team
planners/schedulers.
All other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.
Follows SOP's.
All other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: -
Computer skills
Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP systems
Requires strong organizational and communication skills (written
and verbal) and ability to work well with people.
Must be pro-active, self-motivated, and professional.
Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
Must be able to handle projects with some supervision.
Must understand basic concepts of Supply Chain Management
May possess knowledge of - MRP, CRP, Planning/Scheduling, Bills of
Material, Routings, and Inventory Management.
Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule forms, plus
the ability to track calculate and compile reports. -
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Positions is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach and
kneel occasionally; and lift from 15 to 25 pounds rarely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Noise, dust, lighting, temperature and physical/ergonomic hazards
are typically those usually found in an office environment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be
able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
