Job Description:

WHO WE ARE

Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) is a non-profit family planning agency and a leader in sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy, and education in the state of Utah. We provide high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for Utahns/people in eight health centers across the state.

At PPAU, care is much more than the health, education, and advocacy services we provide; it's the way we approach our world with compassion and a constant desire to improve. We care with kindness, respect, and are passionate about helping adults and teens of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, and cultural backgrounds lead healthy lives.

About this position

As a member of Public Affairs team, the Campaigns Organizer builds community, political, and electoral power around reproductive health, rights, and freedom and provides tools for Utahns to empower themselves and elevate their own voices.

This role involves working for Planned Parenthood of Utah's C3 and C4 organizations.

Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU), a C3 nonprofit, operates eight health centers across Utah with the mission to empower Utahns of all ages to make informed choices about their sexual health.

Planned Parenthood Action Council of Utah (PPAC), a C4 nonprofit, is the advocacy and political arm of PPAU that engages in educational and electoral activity including legislative advocacy, voter education, and grassroots organizing to promote reproductive freedom.

Working within a range of settings and institutions (including PPAU's volunteer base, local college campuses, political campaigns, and other pockets of community as identified by the Public Affairs team), this position supports activist outreach and recruitment, supporter mobilization and meetings, as well as civic/electoral engagements, political and advocacy actions, and coalition building with a goal of expanding and strengthening PPAU's power base throughout Utah.

The Campaigns Organizer's work will include a mix of face-to-face and virtual engagement, including but not limited to voter canvassing and outreach campaigns, facilitating or supporting volunteer training, updating volunteer and supporter databases, managing candidate endorsements, legislative lobbying, political engagement, and policy work.

The Organizer will coordinate aspects of the PPAC candidate endorsement process such as leading community outreach, managing volunteer recruitment and retention, supporting PPAC subcommittees, and providing training and development to activists. In addition, this position supports PPAC and the political action committee (PAC) on electoral activities to identify and elect champions for sexual and reproductive health to elected office. This may include coordination of administrative, research and compliance functions of candidate rating, endorsement, and campaign support processes.

Note: Candidates who are unsure of their campaign employment status after Spring 2024 political party conventions should apply now for this position to be considered.
