Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on ventilation systems, hydronic systems, building machinery, and surfaces. Assists other technicians with large jobs and routine work. Responsible for editing and maintaining a tool, equipment, and part inventory. Promotes efficient, economical, continuous and safe operation of equipment. University of Utah Job ID# PRN28206B 01752 - HEALTH SCIENCES DISTRICT COMPENSATION: $16.00 - $17.00 WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time; Monday through Friday, 7:30 am -4:00 pm, additional hours as needed RESPONSIBILITIES: Make positive contributions to the safety culture on campus and follows the University safety procedures. Provide excellent customer service by listening and communicating with the customer to address concerns before, during, and after work is done. Work collaboratively with other trades and co-workers to create a cohesive workplace. Use university work-order system to record and maintain equipment performance, repair records, and add notes to phases. Perform preventative maintenance on air handler filters, coils, and other equipment. Provide routine maintenance in mechanical space including cleaning, installing, insulation, and other duties as assigned. Assist in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems while gaining knowledge to perform individually. Use university work-order system to record and maintain equipment performance, repair records, and adds notes to work orders. Assist other trades in regular duties and projects. Learning other skills through on-the-job training. Maintain clean and safe equipment and mechanical areas. Maintain, operate, overhaul, repair, and service various types of building systems. Specific Work Area Detail: This position supports the University Health Sciences research environments, a qualified candidate must be able to work around and with a wide variety of research and lab settings. QUALIFICATIONS: Four years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas with one of those years in a lead capacity; demonstrated knowledge of national, state, and local building codes and standards; ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and be able to make mechanical sketches and drawings; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. Requires lifting and transporting heavy objects. A valid Utah Driver---s license may be required.
