Job Description As the Night (Swing Shift) Dispatcher for Thatcher Transportation, Inc., this person is responsible to schedule and assist in the supervision of drivers based out of the Salt Lake City facility. Intent is to optimize routing and delivery for the fleet of Thatcher Transportation Inc. Normal hours of responsibility are 6 PM to 6 AM on a seven-on/seven-off working schedule. Responsible for ensuring that drivers follow applicable State, Federal and Local regulations including but not limited to DOT, MSHA, and EPA. Daily tasks include: Ensuring drivers have everything needed to successfully and safely accomplish their deliveries; provide service and support to plant activities through prioritizing and coordinating hostler moves; communicate well with multiple stakeholders to accomplish plant logistic activities. Desired Qualifications/Skills -- Experience in applicable field such as business, logistics, supply chain management, etc. Prefer individuals at junior or senior status who are pursuing BS/BA degree in business, logistics, or supply chain management. -- Well organized with ability to work well and effectively under pressure with strict time constraints. -- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly changing priorities. -- Problem solving and analytical skills. -- Attention to detail. Must be accurate in work. -- Ability to multi-task in Windows based environment. -- Computer proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word. -- Ability to work in a team oriented environment and manage multiple customer relationships. -- Speak, write and understand English fluently; -- Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Physical Requirements -- Duties require extensive use of computer keyboard and mouse; -- Must be able to sit in one place for extended periods of time, but may also require some limited movement around office location; -- No heavy lifting required.
