Job Description:
Supervise and complete construction projects, perform the basic
duties of Class III Engineer and the special skills of Class II
Engineer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Control all phases of a construction project from start to
finish.
- Perform maintenance and repairs in specialized areas such as
plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC.
- Perform all essential functions of Class I and II Engineers as
needed.
- Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Chief Engineer.
- Complete work orders when assigned in a timely manner.
- Responsible for all life/safety systems including fire,
elevators, disasters and emergency lighting and generating
systems.
- Maintain all motors and control circuits.
- Purchase equipment and supplies. Maintain parts. OTHER
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Arrange for outside contracts when necessary.
- Assist the Director of Engineering in all areas requested.
- Travel - limited local travel required upon request.
- Hours: 40 hours over a five day period; scheduled days and
times may vary based on need. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge
- Must be able to perform all basic functions of Class III
Engineer.
- Must have special skills and experience in a construction trade
such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC.
- Must have skill and ability to handle building mechanical
systems and controls, electrical systems, energy management,
interior finishes and products and basic management/supervisor
skills.
- May require ability to drive a pick-up truck. Skills
- Excellent in all phases of construction.
- Excellent hearing required to communicate with staff and
guests.
- Excellent vision required to visually inspect equipment.
- Excellent speech communication skills required to communicate
with staff and guests.
- Excellent comprehension and literacy required. In charge of
entire department at times; work orders, reports, etc. -
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying required to
inspect and repair.
- Frequent bending and kneeling required to inspect and
repair.
- Mobility - 100% required to quickly reach all areas of hotel in
emergency situations.
- Climbing stairs of approximately 90 steps 10% of 8 hours.
- Climbing ladders approximately 8 feet 10% of 8 hours.
- Driving - may need to drive company pick-up truck 10% of hours
to get equipment and supplies. -
- Minimum of two years college, or equivalent in trade school, or
training in property management. -
- Minimum of four years experience in building maintenance or
construction trades. Material/Equipment Used Saw, drill, hand
tools. Work inside 90% of 8 hours; outside 10% of 8 hours. Abnormal
temperatures - 5 to 95 degrees. - Employees are held accountable
for all duties of job -
