--- JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Systems Engineer - Application and Technical Maintenance partners with US and Canada Field IT organization to ensure that application and technical maintenance standards are maintained to the highest degree possible. The position will require significant coordination across disciplines and amongst support teams while balancing operational impact and security posture requirements. This position will lead the business planning and modeling phases for the service delivery portion of the TSSC organization, focused on Application and Technical Maintenance along with co-ordination and escalations with the Marriott Service Desk organizations. Manages initiatives, projects and changes to the Application and Technical Maintenance programs ensuring compliance with changing requirements from both internal and external organizations. Works closely with the rest of the TSSC team, especially the Property Security and Infrastructure Review program to ensure controls are maintained and updated as necessary. Serves as an IT escalation point for both internal and external stakeholders. Establishes strong rapport with Corporate IT partners, along with Area Systems Directors to ensure organizational needs are met.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required



  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification preferred


  • 7+ years' progressive information technology experience that includes the following:


  • Process reengineering and standards development/execution for application maintenance


  • Application production support (problem/incident or change/release management)


  • Software or infrastructure engineering, configuration management


  • 3+ years hands-on management level experience in IT customer service with a track record of support production IT infrastructure


    Preferred


    • Project Management.


    • Experience with agile frameworks.


    • Experience/understanding of cloud technologies.


    • Experience with technology security concepts and functions.


    • Working knowledge of DevOps principles and practices


    • Strong understanding of hotel property technical configurations and the impact on operations.


    • Strong understanding of property security and compliance requirements.


    • Working knowledge of IT support processes, responsibilities, and requirements.


    • Project management experience.


    • Vendor management experience.


    • Experience in developing and delivering presentations, technical and functional documentation.


    • Direct or indirect management experience that includes coaching and developing associates with minimal guidance.


    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities.

      • Follows a structured and repeatable process as far as making evaluations and recommendation.


      • Evaluates the organization's IT infrastructure and decides when and where improvements should be made.


      • Integrates the application portfolio management into operations and drives automation of these practices.


      • Develops, communicates, and manages the SDLC for relevant application (requirements, testing, implementation, support) life cycle activities; develops and provides standardized progress reports of the complete change cycle.


      • Develops and maintains maintenance release schedule and defines priorities for enhanced maintenance practices.


      • Defines an approach to monitor maintenance work, and list of metrics to gauge success.


      • Develops an application and technical maintenance model to improve operational efficiency.


      • Applies frequent and continuous preventive maintenance and anticipates and respectively controls potential risks. Identifies possible actions to increase value added tasks.


      • Provides guidance and feedback around Application and Technical Maintenance services to the US and Canada hotels.


      • Works closely with Regional and Area System Directors to ensure maximum performance and engagement around compliance and security posture.


      • Provides educational direction to Marriott Service Providers, Service Desk and IT Field Services organizations in core technologies as required.


      • Strategizes optimal solutions for by coordinating options with IT Delivery, vendors, and US and Canada IT Leadership.


      • Promotes and provides guidance on the benefits of US and Canada Technology Services to the organization.


      • Acts as point of escalation for IT Leadership and Security teams to deal with critical incidents.


      • Provides consultation services for IT Leadership, project, and IT Field teams to identify improved operational conditions and processes to address evolving needs.


      • Ensures that documentation for property technology environment is maintained according to standards for US and Canada Technology Services.


      • Develops, adopts, and maintains best practice guidelines for IT Field services personnel.


      • Reviews configuration requirements for new property based technical solutions to ensure existing security and compliance requirements are met.


      • Proactively addresses configuration conflicts and works closely with third party partners and project teams to ensure effective adoption in the field.


      • Establishes strong rapport with Corporate IT partners, along with Regional IT VPs to ensure market needs are met.


      • Works with US and Canada IT, Global IT, and partners to implement continuous improvement activities.
