The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, with a focus on the construction industry. You will be responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, budget analysis, and forecasting for all construction projects. You will also be expected to provide support to other departments and stakeholders.   • In this role, you'll be leading the accounting and finance efforts supporting our construction business in Commercial & the multifamily sectors
  • Responsible for the finance and accounting functions of the construction team including month-end closing and financial statement preparation
  • Analysis of and adjustments of General Ledger in preparation for month end reporting
  • Analyze construction statuses on respective projects and lead cost analyses
  • Lead monthly reviews of project budgets and manage project cash flows
  • Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Resolve discrepancies with customers, clients, and vendors as applicable
  • Identify and procure efficiencies in the workflow
  • Oversee the daily operations of the construction accounting department
  • Ensure accuracy of all financial data and reports
  • Develop and maintain the accounting system
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
  • Develop financial strategies, plans and budgets
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Oversee billing and collections processes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax requirements
  • Manage the preparation and filing of all tax returns
  • Manage the audit process and review audit results
  • Monitor and review construction projects for financial accuracy
  • Analyze contracts and subcontracts to ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Monitor and analyze financial trends
  • Participate in the development of construction project budgets
  • Provide guidance and assistance to the construction accounting staff
  • Prepare and analyze cost reportsSenior Construction Accountant Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
    • 5+ years of experience in a construction accounting role
    • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing
    • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Experience with construction project management software, such as Procore, Sage, or Viewpoint, CMiC
    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
    • Excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements and cost savings
    • Experience in the financial close process
