Job DescriptionJob Title: Land Maintenance WorkerDepartment: Parks and RecreationReports To: Parks Maintenance Crew Lead; and/or Assistant Parks & Recreation DirectorStatus: Seasonal, Non-Exempt (Hourly)Wage: $15.00-$21.83 per hour (Typical starting wage $15.00-$18.24 DOE)Close Date: Open Until FilledHours: Up to 40 hours/week, schedule/shift determined by supervisorSeason: May 1st - October 31st Position Summary:Performs a variety of entry-level duties related to the maintenance, upkeep, beautification, installation, repair, and construction of parks grounds/amenities, cemetery grounds, trails, buildings and general environments; and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, Parks Maintenance Crew Lead and/or Park Maintenance Worker. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Sixteen (16) Years of age, or older
  • Valid Utah Class D Driver's License (preferred)
  • One (1) year of experience, or more, in related field (preferred but not necessary)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of maintenance equipment such as mowers, aerators, trimmers, etc.; landscape and sprinkler system repair and troubleshooting; safety precautions associated with equipment operations; interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to receive and follow instruction
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates, and the public.
    • Ability to regularly lift 50 to 75 poundsPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to generally loud noise or very loud noise (ex. large earth-moving equipment, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, etc.) Work is performed primarily in outdoor settings and in all weather conditions. Individual is exposed to chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents, and oils. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles.
